On 2/21/2008 took my mom and Isaiah to Ping Si(平溪) to (放天燈)play sky lantern. Do you know how and why? Please check the web site at "http:www1.taes.tp.edu.tw/2460/www2/light.html" you will find out.

On 2/21/2008 my mom's 68th birthday. We celebrated at a hot pot rest.

My little sister bought the birthday cake for my mom from a French bakery shop!

It fly fly fly.....far far away.... hope our wishes and prayers are come true!!!!

About 150 sky lanterns are fly at the same time on Chinese Lantern Festival day. Our lantern is one of them.

Isaiah holding the sky lantern that we prepare to fly. We put some prayers on the lantern and hope it to carry it to the sky and wish the prayers come true! The spots are from the oil papers at the bottom of the lantern. Once you light up the oil paper, it create hot air that will make the lantern fly like a hot air balloon. Interesting?! Want to try it? It only cost about $100 to $800 NTD to buy one. The bigger one is more expensive than the small one. For the size on the picture is cost $100NTD. You also can choice different color you like. Different color for different wish and prayer.

A picture with Isaiah and mom before we fly the lantern.

The sky lantern fly to the sky....

There are so many different kind of lanterns. The inside is light bulb instead candle.

Nice tree! The tree trunk covered with green plants. It looks so beautiful.

Isaiah took this picture for me!

Get off the rail road! The train is coming!!!

If you take a train to visit Ping Shi you also can get off at Shihfen station.

Good view from the bridge.

Isaiah on the bridge! He was little bit afraid of this old bridge.

An ancient bridge in Ping Si. When people walk on it, it shakes!
Chinese Lantern Festival in Ping Si.

People in Taiwan use like to take train to go to Ping Si. Since our house is not too far from it, we took bus instead plus during Chinese Lantern Festival government arrange special buses to go there directly. The train still one of the favorite transportation for visitors even though it's very slow.

This is the distance view of President Chiang, Kai Shi's home.
This is the road to go to President Chiang, Kai Shi's mom's grave.

The front door for the grave.

It's a long way from the front door to walk to the grave. We need a banch to take a rest.

Front view of the grave.

On the way to her grave, we saw some vendors are selling nice plum flower trees. It only cost 100RMB for one.

This is a nice tree but it's selling as a pot- growing plant. It's cost about 1000RMB.

An old park on the street. The inside already turn in to a vegtable and peach farm.
A lion statue outside of the park.

This is the river that we studied about in the school....." President Chiang saw the fish swim against the river flow, so he told himself to study hard to against all impossible." (...魚兒在小溪中逆游而上...). This river is the life for the villagers. They wash cloths, dishes, food, ect. in the river. I just can not believe that the villagers bare hands wash clothes in the river and the temp. was 5degree F.! Little street in the village.
This house use belong to a rich person. Through that many years many people are sharing this house. We did not get a chance to find out who use to live there.

This stairs was made very small. It's specially made for President Chiang's mom, Mrs. Chiang, to walk on who has traditional Chinese wrap feet(三 吋金蓮).
This door and walk way looks so fashinonable.... It looks more like in Spain or Europe, not China! What do you think?!

An old tree on the street.

A nice cherry tree in one of President Chiang's house. Can you imagine how beautiful the picture will be in the spring?

This is the front view of the building.

Thousand layers cookies is the famouw snack in Fung Hua. The village people bake this cookies either on the street or at shop. It only cost 10RMB for 1kg. My mom bought 1kg and bring it back to Taiwan.

Tradition Chinese building. Take a good look of the dragon on the roof.

A tradition Chinese gate.

There are some bamboo boats on the river. You can take a ride on the boat in the summer time.

Another building (文昌閣). Please see the next three pictures...
